As a Visiting Artist, I taught a four-week seminar based work-shop for graduate and undergraduate art students at the Center for the Visual Arts at Illinois State University, Normal, IL. This seminar investigated the historic and contemporary issues and practices of Artist Run Spaces as alternatives to the mainstream Art World. This involved, readings, discussions, exercises and student presentations.
This was a drawing and watercolor class with 3rd graders at PS 192 in Brooklyn, NY through Studio in a School. The students did observational field trips in the neighborhood using sketchbooks and written reflections. These were then combined with imaginative ideas to create these street scenes mixing real-life with fantasy.
